In-12 of [4], III, [1, bl.], 312, [1] p., 1 folding plate. Paperback, blue printed decorated cover (text in a double red and black frame), uncut. A very good uncut copy, complete with the folding map (cover a little faded). Sent by the author to his aunt and uncle ("To my aunt and uncle, affectionate and respectful homage"). Henry de Menthon was born on October 23, 1865 in Choisey (Jura). After leaving the army he became a landowner in the small commune of Saint-loup-lès-Gray, a locality of which he became mayor in 1894. On July 14, 2011, the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem recognized him as Righteous Among the Nations. Here he shares his travel experiences, which took him to Asia (Ceylon, the Sunda Islands), Oceania (New Caledonia, New Hebrides) and Polynesia (Tahiti, the Leeward Islands).
