In-12, 260 pp. Bound in eggplant pastiche morocco, 5-rib spine richly decorated, t.p. in havane morocco, boards decorated in the Dubuisson style, gilt roulette on the edges, broadly ornamented chasses, old silk endpapers [18th?], second endpapers in glue, gilt head, 1st cover serving as title cons.First volume publication of La Marseillaise. The text comprising the 6 quatrains, signed "M. Rougez", is followed by a 7th quatrain entitled "Couplet des enfans , ajouté à la pièce précédente, dans la fête civique du 14 octobre". The first edition by Rouget de L'isle, with the score at the end of the volume, took place in 1796 in a collective edition: Essais en vers et prose; but while the text only appears on pages 157-159 in this edition, in the collection L'Almanach des muse it obtains the first page after the engraved title dated 1792 by Poisson. Very slight epidermal damage to the upper cover, cover reinforced in the margin, tear without loss to the 1st f; spine unstained.Edition of the utmost rarity, magnificently established in a splendid pastiche binding.
