Basane havane, spine with 6 ornate bands, t. p. in fawn morocco, double gilt fillet on the edges (Binding of the period). First edition of one of the most important works in the history of Franche-Comté, which became rare because it was publicly burned by order of the magistrates of Besançon, who were unhappy with the title of capital of Franche-Comté that the author wanted to give to the town of Dole. Two bookplates to the title, one cancellated 1741, the other from a lieutenant particulier au présidial de Vesoul, 1786. Title page torn and missing, heavily restored, followed by a printed copy, the Epistle entirely reinforced with transparent film, as for the Errata at the end of the work; some soiling and dampening, a few small wormholes at the end. Binding restored, notably at spine and corners.
