Full vellum with flaps, long spine, manuscript title. Very light spotting to a few leaves, upper hinge sound but copy partly unstuck (lower hinge open, endpaper missing); text still fresh. Pierre Matthieu (Pesmes, 1563 - Toulouse, 1621) was the historiographer of Henri IV and Louis XIII. French translation of the Roman History of Sejan (1st century AD). It is followed by "Remarques d'Estat et d'Histoire sur la vie et les services duc de Villeroy". It is also increased by the translation of a story of Boccaccio, published here under the title "Histoire des prosperitez malheureuses d'une femme cathenoise grande sénéchalle de Naples".
