BULLET, Jean-Baptiste. Discourse extracted from the History of the Establishment of Christianity, by M. Bullet, royal professor of theology, and dean of the university of Besançon, Besançon: at the Charmet brothers and sisters, 1767. In-12 of 78 p. Paperback, grey cover. Lack of paper on the spine, cut without missing text on f. G2; good copy. Rare separate printing as part of the Histoire de l'établissement du christianisme... published in 1764. The author explains in the Notice (p. 2) : "This Discourse is part of the work that was given in 1764 [...] and it contains the principal proofs of the truth of Christianity [...]. Pious and enlightened persons, whose advice we make it a duty to follow, wished that it be printed separately." Jean-Baptiste Bullet (born in Besançon around 1699 and died on September 6, 1775) was a professor of theology in Besançon for nearly fifty years. Provenance: ex-libris label "M. J. A.
