[CARNOT, Adolphe]. [Biographical collection]. ● [Collective]. Adolphe Carnot. 1839-1920. In-8° of 36 pp. Heliogravure of Carnot in frontispiece. 8 speeches in tribute to Adolphe Carnot. [Following, mounted on tab] ●● SAGNIER, Henry. Biographical note on Adolphe Carnot, former member of the Academy [...] Notice read in the Solemn Session of 23 February 1921. Paris, Académie d'Agriculture de France, undated [1921]. 23 pp. Ivory half-percaline in Bradel style, red morocco title page, covers preserved. Enriched with 4 autograph letters signed by Adolphe CARNOT. ● One to the director of the newspaper La Cocarde, Paris, December 4, 1892. About "an infamous slander, claiming that I had received a check for 200,000 francs from the Panama Administration." He demands the publication of a denial. "I did not receive a cent from the Administration of Panama, with which I did not have, moreover, at any time, any kind of relationship. You would like to be able to sully the name of the President of the Republic; but you will not find a single stain in it." ● 3 to his nephew Sadi. Paris, October 9, 1916, January 17 and November 21, 1919. He sends him books, as well as his best wishes, and invites him to celebrate his 80th birthday; he also discusses his political involvement in the Alliance, of which he is leaving the presidency for life, and the elections. "I have seen with great pleasure the success of the Union list that you have discreetly supported with your advice and influence. My compliments to you. You have eliminated all the Bolshevik socialists and the Côte-d'Or will now regain its rank among the patriotic and reasonable departments. Jean has worked in the same direction and with a similar selflessness; for he has left for his campaign, which has been very hard, almost without hope of success, but not to let the Hte Vienne languish under the evil dictatorship of the Bolshevists." With the results undecided, the House will have to decide. "Whatever the decision, Jean will have nobly done his duty as a good Frenchman!
