[BONCERF DE CHAZOT; PROST-LACUZON]. LAUNOY, Jean de. Joannis - Lot 49
[BONCERF DE CHAZOT; PROST-LACUZON]. LAUNOY, Jean de. Joannis Launoii Constantiensis Paris. Theologi. De recta Nicaeni canonis VI. Et prout à Rufino explicatur, intelligentia dissertatio. Editio secunda auctior et corrector, Paris : Edme Martin, 1662. Small in-8 of [14], 100 pp. Long spine vellum, handwritten title (contemporary binding). A very good copy (stain in upper margin and in lateral margin of five f.). Provenances from the Franc-Comté region: 1) ex-libris label "Boncerf de Chazot" on the back cover: 2) stamp "Prost-Lacuzon" on the title (probably Jules Prost-Lacuzon, born in Dole in 1817, doctor and novelist, member of the Société d'émulation du Jura). Jean de Launoy (1603-1678) maintains that this canon of the Council of Nicea was made against the claims of Melèce of Lycopolis to make ordinations in all Egypt, and that it establishes in this respect the same right for the patriarch of Alexandria in his domain as for the bishop of Rome in his.
