Lucien PILLOT (Vesoul, 1882-1973) - Lot 142
Lucien PILLOT (Vesoul, 1882-1973) The Loue Valley at Mouthier-Haute-Pierre Oil on canvas signed lower left 53 x 73 cm This is a smaller version, but very similar to Pillot's larger work (118 x 158 cm), which has been in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Besançon since 1935. Lucien Pillot was born in Vesoul in 1882. He was a pupil of Félix Giacomotti in Besançon. A talented artist, he distinguished himself through his hazy, slightly blurred landscapes and his palette of colors. In addition to the view of the Vallée de la Loue, the Musée de Besançon holds an interesting painting entitled "La Place de la Révolution à Besançon" and a portrait of the painter Isenbart, by Lucien Pillot.
