La Grande Chirurgie des tumeurs, en laquelle, selon les anciens Grecs, Latins, Arabes, & modernes approuvez, est contenue la théorie & practique tres-parfaite de toutes les maladies externes, qui surviennent au corps humain. Lyon, Jean Anth. Huguetan, 1611. In-16 of [16], 613, 1 bl., [30] pp. Sphere mark on title. [Enchiridion anatomic, auquel est sommairement & méthodiquement descripte l'histoire anatomique du corps humain [...]. With the same publisher, 1616. In-16 of [12], 204 [of 206] pp. Sphere mark on title. Contemporary soft ivory vellum. Extremely rare set of 2 works, in French, by Jean VIGIER, a Castres physician who died in 1659. La Grande Chirurgie des tumeurs (The Great Surgery of Tumors) is his main and most innovative work. Nasal surgery, in particular, is precisely described, and the idea of rhinoplasty is formulated for the first time in French (p. 418). Enchiridion anatomic is unfortunately incomplete on the last leaf. Ex-libris ms. of Jacques DUPOUX, physician. Vellum soiled with missing upper cover, wetness to first two quires of La Grande Chirurgie with small hole to title, some rings and soiling not serious.
