ROY-CHEVRIER, who presents the author as follows: "Charles Rouget (1828-1899) was first and foremost a Jura ampelographer, botanist and winegrower, a practitioner like Pulliat, but, more than Pulliat, a lover of the past and its texts [...] His considerable local work is of great sincerity and rare originality. This author also has the unusual merit of having been, despite being a simple grower, the first to take retrospective ampelography seriously". Cover stained, 1st cover reinforced in margin.
