AUGIS - "Plus qu'hier moins que demain" (More than yesterday, less than tomorrow) Medaille d'Amour" pendant in 18K yellow gold, 750 thousandths, with eagle head hallmark, radiant decoration, encircled by a floral crown carved in relief, bearing the inscription "+ qu'hier - que demain" enhanced by small rose-cut diamonds and three calibrated imitation red stones, suspended by a mobile hoop from a fine 18K yellow gold (750/1000) forçat link neck chain, with eagle head hallmark. French work, mid-twentieth century Signed A.A on the obverse, "DEPOSE" on the reverse Master hallmark partially effaced Diam. of pendant: 2.2 cm. Chain length: 50 cm. Gross weight of medal: 7.16 gr. Total gross weight: 8.95 gr. Literature: The Médaille d'Amour was born in 1907, in the Lyon workshops of Maison A.Augis. Its creator Alphonse Augis, son of the company's founder, had the idea of transcribing the lines of a famous poem by Madame Rosemonde Gérard entitled "Les Vieux" (The Old Men) dating from 1889, a true declaration of love to her husband Edmond Rostand.
