Pierre BICHET (Pontarlier, 1922-2008) retouched by André CHARIGNY (Paris, 1902 - Besançon, 2000) Winter Sleep (Remonot), 1988, retouched in 1993 Oil on panel, signed lower left Bichet and lower right Charigny, titled on the back 60 x 30 cm Provenance: Pierre Bichet Collection "Friends, we were nevertheless different painters, and installed both in front of the same landscape, more often than not we chose a different angle, a different composition. Our ways of painting themselves differed. At the end of a working session, we would compare our two paintings, often of a different format too, and be constantly surprised by our differences. Sometimes, just for fun, we exchanged canvases, each working in turn on the other's." (Pierre Bichet in: Pierre Bichet & Roland Bouhéret, André Charigny, Souvenirs, Cêtre, 1989)
