[ORDINAIRE, Maurice]. Catalog des Livres de Maizières [sic]. - Lot 163
[ORDINAIRE, Maurice]. Catalog des Livres de Maizières [sic]. Maizières, July 1920 [-1934]. 125 ff. in-4° ruled register [folioed 141] entirely handwritten in black and blue ink. Green half-suede with corners, handwritten label on front cover and spine, yellow edges (Stamp Au Grand livre Rambaud, Fabricant de registres réglés à Besançon).Maurice Ordinaire (1862-1934) was deputy and then senator for Doubs from 1903 until his death. The Ordinaire family home was located in Maisières. The register has been transformed into an alphabetical index. Established in 1920, Ordinaire continued to add to it until his death in 1934, when Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf was recorded (f° 58). The register opens with a table of book locations, with bound books underlined. Works of classical literature are found alongside an important collection of Comtois regionalism. The last 6 pages are devoted to the "Catalogue des Tableaux" (oils and prints, drawings and pastels, miniatures, medallions and statues), with their location. Precious document listing, among others, 10 titled Courbets, "all signed except no. 9, whose signature has been scratched off, but is still legible".Enriched with an autograph letter signed by Georges GAZIER (1875-1951, then curator at the Besançon Library), Besançon, October 18, 1821, to "Monsieur le Sénateur" [Maurice ORDINAIRE]. 3 pp. in-8°. On the letterhead of the Besançon Library. Communicates information on Lenoir and Luc Breton (his bust that the latter made of Ordinaire, reputedly lost. "If one day you had the opportunity to photograph it [...] I would be very grateful if you would reserve a print for the Besançon library."), Alexandre Chazerand and the two Ordinaire sons, Jean-Jacques and Jean François Désiré. Finally, he discusses the correspondence between Jean-Jacques Ordinaire and Weiss, and between Jean de Brye and Jean-Jacques.
