Franc-comtoise school, Louis Boistot Salins (Jura), Platrières Oil on paper mounted on panel, signed lower left, located on a label (torn) on the back. 23.5 x 33 cm (Damage and missing frame) Attached is an etching by the artist "Salins-les-Bains" depicting the Salines house, titled and signed in pencil (13 x 17.3 cm outside margins) This could be the Platrières de Salins factory. In 1831, the Raton brothers transferred their plaster factory to a property they had acquired a few years earlier, and had a kiln and waterwheel built on the Furieuse River. Around 1870, following a partnership, the factory became the Clément-Raton factory. The factory underwent several expansions and owned a gypsum quarry a few hundred meters away. The plasterworks ceased operations in 1958.
