GOLLUT (Loys). Les Memoires historiques de la repub[lique]
sequanoise, et des princes de la Franche-Comté de Bourgongne.
Avec un sommaire de l'Histoire des catholiques rois de Castille,
& Portugal, de la maison desdicts princes de Bourgongne. Dole,
Ant. Dominique, 1592. In-folio of [10] ff, 1108 pp, [17] ff. Title
in red and black with engraved arms of Burgundy. Basane
chipped, long spine, black morocco t.p. (Later binding).
binding).
First edition of one of the most important works on the history of the
Franche-Comté, which became rare because it was publicly burned
by order of the magistrates of Besançon, unhappy with the title of capital of
Franche-Comté that the author wanted to give to the town of Dole.
From the libraries of Erwin LAUDE and Paul-Félix BEUVAIN DE
BEAUSEJOUR (Vesoul, 1839-Carcassonne, 1930), successively parish priest of
Vitrey (1874-1876) then Luxeuil (1887-1892), archpriest of the cathedral
and vicar of Besançon, before being elected bishop of Carcassonne on June 9, 1902,
with their engraved bookplates. Modern bookplate.
Particular copy: chapter LXIII of Book X (pp. 725-788), the list of knights of the
knights of the Golden Fleece with descriptions of their coats of arms,
initially accompanied by 252 empty medallions designed to receive engraved
engraved coats of arms for gluing or illumination, has the coats of arms created in the 20th
century, in black and green, the helms and crests in black and blue, all carefully
carefully cut and laminated. In addition, 8 large green coats of arms
have also been laminated. In addition, the copy is enriched by 76 black
blazons in black, titled "posterior to Gollut", captioned, also carefully
carefully cut and laminated on one and a half sheets. That's nearly
400 coats of arms in all! 3 coats-of-arms and a motto, all full-page, were printed
and laminated to the endpapers.
Restored title with text completed in black and red ink, with a white
laminated to the verso, obscuring the approval, permission and
the approval, permission and two privileges; some rare marginal
marginal spotting, some rubbing to binding.
An unusual copy of the original edition, completed in the last century,
in the spirit of true heraldry enthusiasts.
