First edition of the Latin translation of La Semaine ou Création du Monde, an encyclopedic poem by Du BARTAS, first published in 1578, which DU MOULIN is said to have completed in 50 days. The latter, originally from Gy, attended the University of Dôle; "one of the most eccentric literary figures of the 16th century" (FOURQUET), "his poems were nothing but wit and fire", according to NAUDE; he was murdered at the age of 29. Short note on the author, formerly handwritten on the back cover. Margin trimmed short, minor worm damage restored to first 4 ff.
