L'ÉPEE (Henry). Notice historique sur la fabrique de boîtes à musique de Sainte-Suzanne (Doubs), Montbéliard: H. Barbier, 1878. In-12, 8 pp. Paperback, blue printed cover. A fine copy. Rare pamphlet "which did not have the impact it deserved". First edition of this notice printed on the occasion of the 1878 Universal Exhibition. It is signed "H. L.". Most certainly Henry L'Épée, son of Auguste L'Épée (1798-1875), founder of this music box manufacturer, which continued until 1996. Note reprinted by Claudius SAUNIER in Revue chronométrique, vol. XIV, 1886-1887, pp. 101-105. Saunier points out that the first part of the article on the Sainte-Suzanne music box factory "is taken from a small pamphlet which did not have the impact it deserved". He adds that "from both an industrial and national point of view, this factory is of real interest to us".
