STEUBEN (Carl van), after. Napoleon and his son. Engraved by Alexandre-Vincent SIXDENIERS. Paris, Jeannin, no date [ca. 1840]. Sight size: 81.5 x 68.5 cm (Cuvette: 77 x 64 cm), in its original gilded frame. Beautiful lithograph captioned with V. HUGO's lines: "Both are dead. - Seigneur, votre droite est terrible! / Vous avez commencé par le maître invincible, / Par l'homme triomphant; // Puis vous avez enfin complété l'ossuaire; / Dix ans vous ont suffi pour filer le suaire / Du père et de l'enfant!" ("Napoléon II", Les Chants du Crépuscule, published 1836). Minor frame damage, some marginal spotting, excellent copy.
