BLONDLOT, R. Introduction à l'étude de la thermodynamique. Paris, Gauthier-Villars et Fils, 1888. In-8° of IX, 1 bl., 112 pp. Green half calf, long spine, red morocco title page, red head, cover preserved. (Binding of the time). Chapter III is entirely devoted to CARNOT. With a signed letter from the author to President Sadi Carnot " Respectfully offered to Monsieur le Président de la République, by an admirer of his illustrious uncle and namesake Sadi Carnot. R. Blondlot." Enriched with 3 documents concerning a presumed bust of the scholar: ● POMEY, Inspector General of the P. T. T. Autograph letter signed, Paris, September 28, 1928, to Colonel Sadi Carnot. The polytechnic school wishes to place busts of physicists in the amphitheater, and would like to make sure that one of those it possesses represents the scientist well. He would therefore like to know if there is indeed "a bust of the founder of thermodynamics. It would obviously be this one that should be honored in the Physics lecture hall". ● Draft of the Colonel's reply, September 30, 1928, stating that there is no bust of the scientist and that it must be that of Lazarus. ● LOISEAU, curator at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. Signed letter. Paris, April 18, 1944, to Colonel Carnot. He would like to place a bust of the thermodynamicist in a new room intended for the presentation of railway models. He asks if one exists and if it would be possible to have it reproduced in plaster.
