[MANUSCRIPT - VOYAGE (1681)]. LEMAITRE, Charles; FIERVILLE, - Lot 272
[MANUSCRIPT - VOYAGE (1681)]. LEMAITRE, Charles; FIERVILLE, Charles (ed.). Relation de mon voiage de Flandre, de Hollande et de Zélande, fait en mil six cent quatre vingt et un. In-4 of [2], 375 pp. Brown half-chagrin, spine gilt, gilt title (period binding). A very good copy, spines, nerves, edges and headpieces rubbed. This 1892 manuscript is that of the first editor of the text, Charles Fierville, who identified Charles Lemaître as the author of this anonymous story. He edited the text in 1889. Fierville established this copy in 1892, as he himself specifies: "This voyage is by Charles Le Maitre, priest, doctor of Navarre, considered by Louis XIV as a great Jansenist. He died on December 23, 1688.... The original manuscript is in the Public Library of Le Havre (I copied it in 1882). It belonged first to Cl. R. Jardel and then to J. B. Eyriès."
