First editions. François-Nicolas-Eugène Droz (1735-1805) was a councillor at the parliament of Besançon, secretary of the Academy of Bisontine and founder of the Free Society of Agriculture of Doubs. In the Essai sur l'histoire des bourgeoisies, he traces his study back to the last centuries of the Roman Republic and devotes several chapters to the bailliages and bourgeoisies of Bourgogne and Franche-Comté. The historical study on Pontarlier insists on the greatness of this city and tries to demonstrate its Burgundian origin. A folding table presents the genealogy of the House of Joux. Aligny, 341; Perrod, 732/2.
