First edition, a nominative copy on Japan paper printed for Gustave Auguste Macon (1865-1930), private secretary to the last Duc d'Aumale and archivist of the Château de Chantilly between 1883 and 1892, then, in accordance with the wishes expressed by Henri d'Orléans in his will, first assistant curator of the Musée Condé, a position he held for life. The authors are indebted to him for access to numerous sources for this book. With a few pencil annotations.
