Max CLAUDET (Fécamp, 1840-Salins-les-Bains, 1893) Antoine François Bonvalot, Salins, 1863 Black patina bronze bust, signed, located and dated on the side, titled on the front H. 45 cm Born in Salins in 1784, and died there in 1872, Bonvalot was a teacher, poet and writer, and a contributor to the Démocratie salinoise. The Musée de la Grande Saline in Salins-les-Bains houses the plaster version of Claudet's bust of Bonvalot. The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dole holds another version with a variant. We enclose a letter folded in black ink by Bonvalot, dated and located "Charlemagne 29 mars 1844", a speech for the funeral of a friend (Victor?). The letter was sent to "Mademoiselle Zélie Bonvalot, Près de Notre Dame, Salins", postmarks Paris and Salins.
