London [i.e. Paris], no name, 1757. Volumes I and II in a single volume in-12 of 228 pp. ; 232 pp. Tan calf, smooth spine decorated with flowers, t.p. in tan (Binding of the period). Handwritten bookplate of "Carnot, avocat". Probably Joseph CARNOT (1752-1835), brother of Lazare, lawyer at the Parliament of Dijon, public prosecutor during the Terror, and then attorney general. As a schoolboy, he wrote a note on the last guard and left some attempts at writing (his name and some scribbles and drawings). A heavily handled copy, probably having been used during the young Carnot's studies. The binding is damaged, although solid, and the text is soiled, sometimes torn, with some missing parts.
