GABRILOWITSCH, Ossip (1878-1936). 1 Autograph letter signed, Redding (Connecticut), September 23, 1910, to Vladimir Bienstock. 3 p. in-12. The pianist O. Gabrilowitsch informs Vladimir Bienstock that "Mrs. Gabrilowitsch" (Clara Clemens) "has no problem with the theatrical performance of 'The Prince and the Pauper'" that V. Bienstock has taken from Mark Twain's novel. O. Gabrilowitsch's wife was Clara Clemens (1874-1962), Mark Twain's second daughter and his only heir. Mr. Twain had published The Prince and the Pauper in 1882. J. Vladimir Bienstock (1868-1933) was one of the great translators of Russian into French at the beginning of the 20th century, especially of Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky.
