Amsterdam, Aux Dépens de la Compagnie, 1739. 3 vol. in-12 of 398 pp ; 466, [1] pp ; [12], 416 pp. Fawn speckled basane, spine with 4 raised bands, t. p. in beige morocco, cold fillet on the boards, blue marbled edges (19th century binding). Translation by President Bouhier and the abbot of Olivet, with remarks. The translation of the five Tusculanes and of the Songe de Scipion are followed by the Latin text; the Remarks and a Dissertation on Sardanapalus form the 3rd volume. From the library of Baron Karl von Hertefeld (1794-1867), Liebenberg, with his blue label to the 3 vols. and his signature to the titles of vols. I and II; Liebenberg library stamp to the 3 vols. Handwritten notes on Baron von Hertefeld, confidant of the Pussian king Frederick William IV, dated 1911. "M Cusin" in pencil to 1st vol. with underlined passages
