[Manuscript - GENDARMERIE]. BRIGADE OF BOUCLANS (DOUBS). [Ex - Lot 52
[Manuscript - GENDARMERIE]. BRIGADE OF BOUCLANS (DOUBS). [Exercise register, ca. 1930]. In-folio (31 x 20,5 cm) of [161] p. ms + 35 p. blanks. Good condition. Interesting register of exercises giving a good overview of the skills required in a gendarmerie brigade of the 1930s, in a rural environment. The instructions are given by different superiors; they concern the variety of situations they may be confronted with, and the way to draw up reports. This concerned 1) the control of commercial travelers, landlords, fairground vendors, individuals "foreign to the country" (banned from residing in the country, subject of an extract from the Public Prosecutor's Office, deserters, foreigners subject to an expulsion order, suspected spies, etc.) 2) the recording of offences (brawls, sale of alcohol to minors, housebreaking, breaking of seals, vagrancy and begging, lack of employee's identity card, lack of business card, etc.); 3) other practical aspects (arrests of the insane, execution of arrest warrants, discovery of corpses, etc.); 4) French exercises (dictations, essays) and arithmetic. A very well prepared document, with a very neat handwriting, including several plans and diagrams. It covers the period from June 12, 1935 to August 1, 1937 for the Bouclans Brigade (7th Legion, Doubs Company, Besançon Section).
